NAP Grant-funded Art Reception

Exciting news! Nancy Pochis Bank Art Studio has received a generous Neighborhood Arts Program (NAP) grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events to teach two six-week watercolor classes to low-income seniors living in public housing. This will be offered as a follow-up to the workshop that Nancy taught last year (also supported by a NAP grant). The 2010 classes took place at CHA Hattie Callner Senior Apartments. Thanks to our intern Nikki for assisting Nancy with the course.

After the final class, Nancy organized an exhibition of the participants’ framed work.  It was a lot of fun working with the elder artists, many of whom had never taken an art class before, and it was heart-warming to see how proudly they showed off their pieces at the reception. We were delighted when Congressman Mike Quigley stopped by to support the exhibition.
