Pochis Bank Studio has been continuing to work with the new Nike Training Center in Lincoln Park. Most recently, we created several 8×10″ typographic chalk plaques quoting NTC trainers, soon to be installed in the fitting rooms.

Every year, Latin School of Chicago puts up a wall display using baby photos of all their graduating seniors. For the class of 2013, Pochis Bank Studio created this chalkboard prompting students to see if they can identify who’s who. Thanks to studio artist Elizabeth Ahlem for her design work on this project.

NPB Studio has spent the last few weeks designing and executing five chalk boards for the Omni Hotel’s amazing new restaurant and bar, 676. This farm-to-table restaurant  describes their menu as “approachable, organic and sustainable – local food treated the way it was intended.”

A special thanks to artists Amanda Paulson and Poppy Gollard for their excellent work on this huge project as well as to Elizabeth Ahlem and Amanda Paulson for assisting with the design work.

This is the main welcome board, which describes some of the unique features of 676, and a bit of their philosophy.

This is the left bar board, which highlights their wine and cheese selections. It will be updated seasonally with featured wines seasonally.

This is the center bar board, which promotestheir craft beers and chef-inspired mixed drinks.

This board is in the dining room, showing their Charcuterie Cooler. 676 is one of the only restaurants in Chicago to cure their own meats.

This board is also in the dining room, highlighting 676′s relationships with local farmers throughout the midwest.

This Monday marked the end of another successful adult watercolors class at North Branch Arts. Nancy and her students celebrated with with an exhibition highlighting the students’ artworks and overall progress. Here are the proud participants and their art:

This week, NPB Studio participated in Highland Park High School’s annual event, FOCUS on the Arts. Nancy, Amanda Paulson, and Tracee Badway, along with dozens of talented and enthusiastic HPHS students, created giant pavement art versions of masterpieces from Grant Wood and Picasso. Despite the frigid winds, both murals were successfully completed on schedule and enjoyed by staff, students and parents.

FOCUS on the Arts, which began in 1964, is a truly a community effort and a collaboration of the city, school, students and staff. It’s mission is this:

“…to increase appreciation and global understanding of the arts and of the professionals engaged in them. By supporting our high school we support the community. A community rich in appreciation for the arts. FOCUS has been the inspiration for lifelong interests in the arts, as well as careers, for many people in Highland Park and beyond. It is our goal to continue this tradition of creating the artists and art audiences of the future.” (source)

Here’s another batch of hand-lettered chalkboards by Nancy Pochis Bank Art Studio for the Nike Training Club in Lincoln Park. This group includes [as shown from top to bottom]: a 6-foot board promoting Nike’s new running shoe, a running gear advertisement that focuses on the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle, a fashion magazine-style board for the new Nike Dunk Sky High women’s shoe, an explanation and illustration of the Legend Pant, and a typographic board advertising some of the private workout and training options that NTC offers.

Spring is coming to Southport and Irving! The weather may be fickle, but the restaurant’s latest chalkboard by NPB Studio is all about spring events. Visit S&I for an Easter Brunch or Mother’s Day Special, as well as baseball-themed local artwork on display. This week, NPB Studio finished three more chalk board illustrations for the Nike Training Center in Lincoln Park. These are in addition to the chalk illustrations that Nancy originally created for the store’s grand opening.

The first board introduces the Flyknit Lunar 1+, Nike’s new ultra-lightweight running shoe.

More simple, unadorned lettering and illustration on this board for Nike’s new Sphere Bomber Jacket, which is made with an average of 14 recycled plastic bottles.

This front window display shows another advertisement for the Flyknit Lunar 1+.

This February you have two chances to see Nancy’s watercolor portraits.

Saturday, February 9th, from 6-9 PM, stop into the Frankenstone Art Center and attend the artist reception of their Second Annual LOVE Show. Nancy’s watercolor portrait, originally titled “Don’t you want to engage me?” will be part of a collection of original artwork exploring a contemporary perspective on the subtleties of love. The artwork will be on display through the end of February.

Nancy Pochis Bank Art Studio was hired by Nike to create chalkboard illustrations for the opening of  their first-ever Nike Training Club (NTC) in Lincoln Park. The drawings, which portray selected Nike merchandise, will be incorporated into product displays throughout the store. Doors open today, and classes begin February 7th.
